The FR92-Holz fire damper from Wildeboer Bauteile GmbH was honoured as "Product of the Year 2016" at this year's FeuerTRUTZ in Nuremberg. The participants in an online vote and an expert jury made up of representatives from industry, planning and engineering as well as experts selected the certified shut-off device for use in cross-laminated timber elements as the winner in the "Technical fire protection" category. With their decision, the participants recognised that the fire damper is the first tested solution for solid timber construction that fulfils all fire protection requirements in a legally compliant manner. Every year, the prize is awarded to pioneering products in structural, plant engineering and organisational fire protection.
In order to obtain the corresponding CE certification, the maintenance-free FR92-Holz fire damper was extensively tested in both unclad and plasterboard-clad cross-laminated timber walls and ceilings. Thanks to a pre-assembled installation kit, the installation openings required for the damper can be precisely planned and taken into account when manufacturing the wall and ceiling elements. The installation solution also ensures simple, quick and clean installation of the fire damper on the construction site.
