Wildeboer signs the Bee Pact

An important and tangible step toward greater biodiversity, as well as a better quality of life and well-being for our employees.

Last Wednesday, Wildeboer joined the Bee Pact and committed to implementing targeted measures to promote biodiversity.

Signing as a joint signal

Last Wednesday, we signed the Bee Pact during a formal certificate presentation ceremony. Dr. Mohr, Executive Director of Ökowerk Emden, and the project coordinator, Dr. Gaupels, were guests at Wildeboer. With their support and expert guidance, we are taking an important step toward creating a vibrant, species-rich corporate environment.

The Bee Pact is a voluntary commitment within the framework of the German-Dutch EU project New Roots, initiated by Ökowerk Emden. In it, companies and organizations declare their commitment to implementing concrete measures on their properties to promote biodiversity and species diversity. Implementation is supported by expert guidance through consulting, workshops, and collaborative exchange formats.

Why Biodiversity Matters to All of Us

Biodiversity is more than just an ecological ideal. It is the foundation of our lives and economic activities. Healthy ecosystems regulate the climate, purify water and air, and strengthen the resilience of both people and nature. At the same time, biodiversity is under pressure worldwide. As a company, we bear responsibility and can actively contribute to the solution.
Within the framework of the New Roots project, a connection to nature is at the forefront as a central concept: people who see themselves as part of nature make more sustainable decisions. Studies also show that a stronger connection to nature promotes well-being and quality of life. Our commitment therefore has a positive impact on our employees and the entire region.

An overview of our measures

Together with Ökowerk, we have outlined specific steps for the coming years. The focus is on practical, visible changes on our company grounds:

  • Creation of flower beds in highly visible areas of the grounds starting in spring 2026
  • Sowing regional flower seed mixes and planting shrubs that provide food for insects and birds
  • Installation of nesting aids for wild bees and birds near the new flowering areas
  • Green parking lots with low-sealant paving for better rainwater infiltration
  • Employee workshops on building nesting aids and a joint species inventory on the premises
  • Communication of all measures internally and externally under the motto: “Do good and talk about it”

Partnership with Ökowerk Emden

Our partnership with Ökowerk Emden is a central aspect of this commitment. Ökowerk uniquely combines nature conservation, hands-on experience, and the sharing of knowledge. As an expert partner, it not only supports us in planning and implementing our initiatives, but also brings nature to life and fosters genuine connections between people and their environment.

“Signing the Bee Pact represents our shared commitment to promoting biodiversity in the region and beyond. For us, the Bee Pact is the starting point for a long-term initiative that we aim to shape together with our partners and employees.”

Marcel Kanthak, Sustainability Officer at bei Wildeboer

Our goal is to be a role model in the region for biodiversity, sustainable business practices, and responsible action. We are convinced that our initiatives can inspire other companies and people. The Bee Pact is not the end, but the beginning.
