Spacing guidelines for installing TS18 TopSchotts with adjacent cable or pipe bulkheads

TS18 TopSchotts can be installed directly adjacent to one another. However, when installing them in adjacent cable or pipe penetrations, spacing requirements must be observed. If this distance is less than 50 mm according to MLAR, or less than 100 mm or 200 mm according to DIBt, official certifications and fire tests are required for the configuration of the fire barriers.
(A = Distance between the TS18 TopSchott and the cable or pipe fire barrier. Varies between 0 mm and 20 mm depending on the manufacturer.)

Clearances for cable or pipe penetrations

The clearances to TS18 TopSchotts must be specified in the statements of applicability for cable and pipe penetrations if there is to be a deviation from the DIBt clearance regulations (see DIBt Newsletters 02/2012 and 05/2013). General Building Approval Z 41.3-556 does not specify any clearances for the TS18 TopSchott relative to other installations.
However, various suppliers of cable and pipe fire barriers have successfully passed fire tests with minimal clearances to the TS18 TopSchott. For further information, please contact the manufacturers of the cable and pipe fire barriers who hold the relevant general building authority approvals.
