Office buildings

Unilever house, Hamburg

Open, honest and transparent - this is how the Chairman of Unilever Germany describes the company's own corporate culture. These characteristics are also reflected in Unilever's new German headquarters. Four months ago, in June 2009, the company moved into its new quarters at Strandkai, directly on the Elbe in a prime location in Hamburg's Hafencity. In the open and spacious atrium, which extends over all seven floors of the new building, there will be lively communication among the approximately 1,200 employees. A total of 30,000 m² of floor space is available. This includes the Passage on the first floor, which is also open to the public. Here, the company's own products, which include Knorr, Axe or Rama, can be purchased in the Lagnese Café, the Dove Spa or the Unilever Shop.

During planning and execution, special emphasis was placed on sustainable and ecological construction. This is evidenced by the gold ecolabel awarded to the new building. This certificate awarded by HafenCity Hamburg GmbH recognizes building projects that are particularly sustainable, for example, in their use of energy resources or in the operation of the building. The new German headquarters, for example, is the first building in the world to use LED lighting exclusively.

The products used by Wildeboer Bauteile GmbH also meet the requirements for energy-optimized installations. Therefore, FK90, FR90, FK90K fire dampers, each series 92, as well as FR90F fire dampers were used. Furthermore, EK90 smoke extraction dampers, some of which are also operated in ventilation mode. These products are supplemented by silencers, multileaf dampers, weather louvers and smoke control dampers.

Maintenance-free fire dampers and smoke dampers due to their sophisticated design, encapsulation of mechanical parts and the high-quality materials used ensure long trouble-free use and sustainable operating cost savings.

Special installation situations, such as sliding ceiling connections in lightweight metal stud partition walls clad on both sides, which become necessary when ceilings are lowered ≥ 10 mm, were also solved with Wildeboer fire dampers without additional, especially formal, effort. For example, the maintenance-free FK90 fire damper was used in combination with the ER4 installation frame. This combination is technically a compact, clean and easy to install solution and is taken into account in the general building approval.
