EK90 Smoke control damper (EK92 series)
The EK90 smoke control damper, series EK92, is used as a combination damper in mechanical systems for smoke extraction and ventilation. The EK90 is often used for smoke extraction from stairwells, shafts, or underground garages. The EK90 can be installed in solid walls and ceilings, in metal stud walls, on and between smoke extraction ducts, and on shaft walls for smoke extraction. It is maintenance-free; no maintenance work is required to maintain its functionality.

Product details
The EK90 smoke control damper, series EK92, is designed for use in mechanical systems for single and multi compartments for smoke extraction and ventilation and can therefore also be used as a combination damper. It is manufactured in sizes from 200 x 200 mm to 1500 x 800 mm (W x H) and in lengths from 350 mm to 850 mm. It is suitable for volume flows up to 43,200 m³/h. Areas of application include mechanical smoke extraction from shafts, stairwells, and underground garages, as well as in pressure ventilation systems.
Maintenance-free design
EK90 smoke control dampers in the EK92 series are maintenance-free. Thanks to their design and the materials used, such as the complete encapsulation of the operation unit, they require no ongoing maintenance to maintain their function. Regular lubrication, for example, is not necessary.
This means that servicing is limited to functional checks (triggering and reopening of the smoke control dampers) or repair work in the event of damage. Cleaning for hygiene reasons should be carried out as part of the overall cleaning of the ventilation and air conditioning system or as required. Due to the maintenance-free design, remote functional checks are easy to implement.
Design for reducing energy consumption
The EK90 smoke control damper does not require the otherwise necessary sealing stops and is therefore particularly energy-efficient. The sealing system increases the internal cross-section through which air flows. The pressure loss and the fan power required are significantly lower, thus reducing energy consumption. The sound power, which is important for ventilation systems, is also significantly lower.
Classification and testing
The maintenance-free EK90 smoke control damper, series EK92, complies with European product standard EN 12101-8 and has the following classification:
EI 90 (vedw - hodw - i↔o) S 1500 Cmod HOT400/30 MA multi
The fire protection tests were carried out in accordance with EN 1366-10 and EN 1366-2. The proven “MA” classification means that the smoke control damper can still be opened after being exposed to fire for 25 minutes. This means that these smoke control dampers can also be used to implement more complex scenarios in accordance with the fire matrix. The classification feature allows both automatic and manual activation. Smoke extraction ducts and end grilles may be connected. In addition, the EK90 smoke control damper, series EK92, meets the HOT classification. This means that the smoke control damper will still close and open within 30 minutes at a fire exposure of 400°C.
