EKM90 Smoke control damper
The multi-lamella smoke control damper EKM90 is designed for use in mechanical smoke extraction and ventilation systems as a combination damper. In pressure ventilation systems for smoke control, it is used, for example, to extract smoke gases via a shaft. The EKM90 can also be used for afterflow. It is often part of a mechanical smoke extraction system for stairwells with safety relevance, shafts or underground car parks. The multi-lamella smoke control damper EKM90 is maintenance-free and can be installed with horizontal or vertical lamellas.

Product details
The maintenance-free multi-lamella smoke control damper EKM90 is designed for mechanical systems for smoke extraction and ventilation and can therefore also be used as a combination damper. It is also used in mechanical smoke extraction systems, pressure ventilation systems and for air replenishment. In practice, it is used, among other things, to keep smoke out of safety stairwells in shafts or for smoke extraction from underground car parks.
Space-saving and lightweight design
The EKM90 smoke control damper has a particularly short overall length of only 220 mm and a weight-reduced design. With dimensions ranging from 200 x 200 mm to 1200 x 2000 mm, the multi-lamella smoke control damper offers a comprehensive range of sizes. The EKM90 is suitable for volume flows up to 155,520 m3/h. Air velocities of up to 20 m/s are possible.
Flexible installation position EKM90 smoke control damper
The multi-lamella smoke control damper can be installed on site flexibly with horizontal or vertical lamellas. Left-hand or right-hand operation can be selected depending on the installation position. Access to the electrical connection compartment is also variable. This avoids errors during ordering and installation.
Maintenance-free design
The EKM90 multi-lamella smoke control damper is maintenance-free. Thanks to its design, the materials used and the complete encapsulation of the operation unit, it requires no ongoing maintenance to maintain its functionality. Servicing is therefore limited to functional checks (activation and reopening of the blades). The functional checks can be carried out remotely.
Classification and test certificates
The maintenance-free multi-lamella smoke control damper EKM90 complies with product standard EN 12101-8 and is classified for multi compartments in accordance with EN 13501-4.
The fire protection tests on the EKM90 multi-lamella smoke control damper were carried out in accordance with EN 1366-10 and EN 1366-2.
The multi-lamella smoke control damper EKM90 is classified as follows:
EI 90 /120 (vedw - hodw - i <-> o) S1000 Cmod HOT400/30 MA multi
The classification “MA”, which has been verified for use in Germany, means that the multi-lamella smoke control damper can still be opened manually after being exposed to fire for 25 minutes.
Automatic release is also possible. Smoke extraction ducts and end grilles tested in accordance with DIN EN 1366-8 and 1366-9 may be connected. The multi-lamella smoke control damper EKM90 also complies with the HOT-400/30 classification. This means that the smoke control damper closes and opens for at least 30 minutes when exposed to a fire temperature of 400 °C.
On-site coating of EKM90 smoke control damper
On-site impregnation and/or coating with dispersion paints is possible.
Product marking
The multi-layer EKM90 smoke control damper has an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).
