JR smoke protection damper
JR smoke protection dampers are used in ventilation ducts to prevent smoke transfer. In supply air systems, they effectively prevent smoke from entering or being transferred into the building. In ventilation systems with recirculated air or heat recovery, they protect the supply air from smoke in the exhaust air.

JR smoke protection dampers are used to prevent smoke transmission in round and rectangular ventilation ducts.
In supply air systems, they prevent smoke from entering or being transmitted into the building. In ventilation systems with recirculation or heat recovery, smoke protection dampers protect the supply air against smoke entering from the exhaust air.
Design of JR smoke protection damper
The U-shaped frame of the JR smoke protection damper has a length of 180 mm and is equipped with connection flanges. The sealing metal blades are controlled by a linkage located outside the air flow.
The JR smoke protection damper is made of galvanized sheet steel, and the blade bearings are made of brass.
Spring return drive
The electric spring return drive of the smoke protection damper is available with either 230V AC or 24V AC/DC and an integrated limit switch to signal the damper positions CLOSED and OPEN.
The smoke protection damper must be used or controlled with a suitable smoke detector approved by the building authorities.
Control of the JR smoke protection damper
Smoke protection dampers must be controlled by building authority approved smoke detectors such as the OR4 basic, the OR4 pro or the OR32. Smoke detectors may control groups of smoke protection dampers together. Fans must be switched off if their continued operation does not prevent the spread of smoke.
